About us
Jeff Crompton
is a saxophonist and composer who has played his
original music in Atlanta and around the Southeast
for over 30 years now. Past musical associates
include The Bazooka Ants, pianist Michael J. Smith,
Darryl Rhoades, and the 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer
Orchestra. Jeff currently leads two other trios, the
Jeff Crompton Trio and Three Way Mirror. and is a
member of the Sataraš Quartet. Jeff writes most of
the music played by the EST.
Ben Davis
plays guitar as well as saxophone, and was named
Instrumentalist of the Year in 2015 by Creative
Loafing, Atlanta’s arts and entertainment paper. Ben
was an important part of the funk collective Noot ‘d’
Noot until that band’s breakup; these days he can
be heard with West End Motel and the instrumental
rock trio Purkinje Shift in addition to the EST.
Bill Nittler
is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of
Music in Boston; he found his way to Atlanta some
20 years ago. His massive baritone sax sound is
well known to Atlanta music fans from his years with
Lie and Swell, and can be heard with the 4th Ward
Afro-Klezmer Orchestra. Bill is Education Director of
the Atlanta Young Singers.
